Ka'Trina Trueheart Williams
I lead people into better. Change your thinking, and you change the results you have been living, in business and in life.
Being stuck somewhere you cannot name is more than a feeling.
I knew it as a child. I knew there were limits, because I was told no before I ever walked into the store. Don't touch nothing. Don't look at nothing. Don't ask for nothing.
I grew up in a home I always wanted to escape. The trauma and the drama were more than I could carry, and I witnessed too much of it. I could not change any of it. I could not fix the money. I could not walk out. I carried that same trapped feeling into young adulthood. If you have ever been caught in something you did not create and could not control, then you and I already understand each other.
Here is what I found in that house, and it is the reason my whole life turned. I could not change where I was. But I could change what I thought. I could change my mind.
Books were how I got out before I could ever physically leave. I read myself into other lives, other possibilities, a future I had no evidence for yet. Slowly the girl in that house began to change, not because her circumstances did, but because her mind did.
I had to remember that lesson as a grown woman, and this time I did not do it alone. I took the class. I got the therapist. I got the coach. I brought in reinforcements, because wanting change and knowing how to reach it are two different things. I changed my thinking again, and again my situation changed.
Everything I teach now, I learned there first, as a child with no other options. When you cannot change your circumstances, you can change your thinking. And your thinking changes everything that comes after it.
That is not a concept I picked up in a classroom. It is the thing that saved my life.
I am not going to teach you anything I have not lived
I am the proof and the blueprint for my assignment.
For years I saw myself the way my circumstances told me to. Limited. No access. Rejected. And I lived exactly like the person I believed I was.
The time came when I stopped agreeing with that picture. I picked up discipline before I understood its power, in JROTC as a teenager, and I learned something I still teach today: enough discipline can outweigh the chaotic patterns and harmful behavior one grew into. You can become so consistent that the pattern which kept you losing finally loses its grip on you.
I have had to do this more than once. When I left corporate America and ended up building a business I swore I would never build, I had to change how I saw myself before I could make it work. I have sat exactly where my clients sit, with the old thinking producing a life I did not want, having to intentionally choose something new. Every result I changed began with a change in my mind first.
"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23:7.
This is the whole foundation. What you think, you become. It is why my work begins in the mind and nowhere else, because "be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind" is not just something I believe. Romans 12:2. It is the exact assignment I carry into every session, with every client, in business and in life.
I have led since I was seventeen
Leadership has been with me my whole life. I became a manager at seventeen, often the only woman and the only African American in the room, and I kept leading from there.
Over more than twenty years I have led across retail, banking, tourism, logistics, and operations, teams as small as five and as large as one hundred people across multiple teams. I have an MBA in business management, I am an ICF certified coach, and I am a certified personal development coach.
But the credential I lean on most is not on paper. I built my own company from startup to profit. I know what it costs to work for yourself, the long hours, the investment you pour back in before you see a dollar of return, the motivation you have to generate on your own when no one is telling you to get up and go. I know it because I did it.
The season that led me here
There was a season when my job ended and no one would pay me what I knew I was worth. So I made a decision that cost me something. I went back to college full time with a son to raise, living in my sister's basement, driving an hour each way every single day to build a better life for the two of us.
I needed provision and I did not know how it would come.
It came through my faith. I kept being drawn to the story of a woman in scripture who was in debt and about to lose her sons, and was told to go gather vessels. Her sons gathered them, and the oil she poured did not run out until the very last vessel was full.
It took me three years in business to realize that candle jars are called vessels. I had been reading that story the entire time, being told to gather vessels, before I understood what I was being led to build. That is how TrueHeart Candles began, and like the oil in that story, the provision has never stopped.
I tell you this because I do not separate my faith from my work. It runs through all of it. I will never require you to share it, and I will never push it on you. But you asked who I am, and this is the honest answer.
Why I came back
Building my own business taught me the thing I most want you to hear: nobody does this alone. What kept me moving when no one around me understood what I was building was having someone in my corner who did. That is what I am now, for the people I work with.
My business became more than income. It became a gateway. It created opportunities and experiences for my own family and for others that would never have existed otherwise. A business built right does not change one life. It changes everyone attached to it.
I recently stepped into a new season, and I can feel the weight of my own voice. I am called to help people break free of the patterns and the cycles of defeat that have been running in their thinking. No more losing on repeat. No more being beaten before you begin.
I lead people into better because I once needed better, and I found the way there. Now I offer that way to you.
This is your season
You are not at the end of your story. There is a future in front of you, and you have far more say over its direction than anyone ever told you.
When you are ready to change your thinking and change your results, I am ready to walk with you.
